Binyamin Gallery Poet In Residence 2016

Binyamin Gallery is an independent artist-run art gallery located in the newly established gallery district in south Tel-Aviv. The gallery aims to display, err, taste, mix-up, and surprise. In alignment with  their mission statement, they invited me to be the gallery’s 2016 poet-in-residence. I accept this challenge of bringing Israeli poetry back to the realm of fine arts and of making it relevant to the contemporary discourse using code, data, collaborations and other opportunities made possible by the Internet.

The first event I held there dealt with Conceptual Poetry. It focused on the first Hebrew conceptual poetry anthology, Nanopoetics 8, edited by Alex Ben-Ari (who co-curated the event) and published by Makom Leshira. It also celebrated a new poetry exhibition, Poetry of Objects, curated by Ravid Rovner at Holon Institute of Technology, Greater Tel-Aviv. The event featured the Poetic Photographer Ezra Levy as well as poets Efrat Mishory, Tomer Lichtash, Ella Novak, Meni Adler, Shira Horesh, Alfred Cohen and Israel’s leading translator Ronen Sonis.
